Debbie Yoro, LCSW
Hi! I'm Debbie,
I’m a licensed clinical social worker with experience in medical and mental health settings, My favorite work experiences have been collaborating with others, teaching resiliency skills, facilitating group discussions and learning how to change the structure of our brains for optimal health and wellness.
I’ve experienced my own unique life transitions with the support from therapy, family, friends, perspective and courage. I and am interested in cultivating a resilient mindset and teaching skills that can be used for the rest of our lives. I believe that there are certain tools that are needed for being human and that there are many opportunities to learn them if we are receptive.
I was born and raised on the island of O'ahu, Hawaii. My grandparents worked on the sugar cane plantations on the island. I grew up playing outside. We had to to be home before the street lights turned on or else there would be consequences. What I enjoyed as a child are the activities I still enjoy like riding my bike, swimming in beaches and pools, dancing and sleeping outdoors, and eating crack seeds, manapua, plate lunches and other Hawaii-local food items.
My husband and I have been living in the Pacific Northwest for the past several years; first in Seattle and now Portland. I am happily exploring the trails, rivers, neighborhoods and the never ending food options. I know where to go for a plate lunch when I need one and I can stay out for as long as I want.
